Our Halloween 2013

'Count Jackula'

Our ward had a 'Trunk or Treat' the night before Halloween this year.  It was a little much having two late nights in the middle of the week just because Jack still had school to go to the following morn, but we still had a lot of fun.  Peter decided to wear two different costumes this year.  To the Trunk or Treat he was Robin and then a Skeleton on Halloween night.  Olive was dressed as Dora the Explorer, Penelope was 'Boots' the monkey from Dora, I was Swiper the Fox, and Jack was a vampire.
The kids had a great time eating lots of goodies, playing pumpkin bowling, throwing marshmallows at ghosts, spending time with Grandma (the giant blue M&M), and filling their bags with more sweeties than I could stand! Ha.
Jack with his good friend, Joey.
And then on Halloween Callie, Josh, and Zoe came up from Monmouth to go out Trick or Treating with us.  All the wee girls were great at marching straight up to the doors to join in with the boys.  Penelope cracked me up with that tail of hers....she always had to be holding onto it.
These two were having the best time practically running to each door!
There she is with that wee tail again! Ha.
We always get around eighty plus kids at our door on Halloween, which makes it such a busy night, but we love it.

October 2013

October; it's always a favourite month of mine and this year did not disappoint.  We managed to make three pumpkin patch trips throughout the month; the kids would have gone every day if they'd had the chance...maybe I would have too if life didn't get in the way!
We went to Sweet Oregon Berry twice; once ourselves and then with our ward playgroup and my mother in-law, who came to spend the week of Halloween with us.
We had to go to Bauman's Family farm too.  It's probably my personal favourite, but only when it's not packed...unfortunately it was really busy when we went this time and we lost Peter!  It was pretty traumatizing for him and me, but we recovered and enjoyed the rest of the day the best we could.  Our friend's the Platt's came with us again (same as last year), we always have so much fun with them.
At Sweet Berry there was a pretty fun rope swing that the boys loved.  Olive is so determined to be right in the thick of whatever they are doing so in this pic below she was a little upset that she wasn't old enough to do play on the swing herself.  She's fearless I tell you!
Here she is going down the enormous chute with Jack.  She must have gone on that thing about 30 odd times.  I went down it once and nearly peed myself because I was so scared! Ha..not really, but it was totally terrifying.
The hazelnut pit!  They had the best time making nut angels, and diving into the pit.  Hours of fun right there...I should get one!
This kid kills me with his poses! HA!
Everyone's favourite part of Bauman's was the free apple and pear/apple taste testing....we spent over an hour in there eating to our hearts content!  And we had to follow it up with Apple Cider and their incredible donuts.

We only ended up carving one of our pumpkins this year...I'm not even sure how that happened.  But I'll plan on making up for that next year.

A morning on the Temple grounds

About a month ago Peter started asking me almost daily if we could go to see the Temple.
So one Monday morning after he asked again, I packed up the three youngest and we headed there. We had the entire place to ourselves.  No one on the grounds, no one in the Visitors Center, nice dry weather, and it was so peaceful.  Peter said later that it was such a great day and that he always has the best ideas....agreed.
