Late pictures

A few weeks ago I finally got around to taking Jack in for some professional pictures. I wanted to get them done on his first birthday, but being the boisterous wee one that he is there were always bumps, scratches, and bruises somewhere on that wee face of his. Here are just a few from the shoot. Jack wasn't nearly as cooperative as he had been when we got the 6 month ones done, but then again he wasn't walking back then.In additional news, we are moving into our new apartment on the 10th of this month. We found a place we really like in Wilsonville. Wilsonville is really a lovely area. The whole town is so clean and it just has a very safe feel to it. We have lots of nice wee parks right by our place and good shopping too. So until we find a house, it'll do.

Update
Now we wait. Ryan won't find out his Bar result until the 12Th of September...I think...sometime around then. It's nerve racking for him, but I think he is just happy to have the stress of waiting to take the exam over with.
Jack was pretty good for the first day we were gone. He apparently walked back to our bedroom a number of times during the day looking for us...poor thing. The second day he wasn't so cute. He cried for the majority of the day and was on a hunger strike! Liz (Ryan's mum) couldn't get him to eat a thing. The second I walked in the door and he saw me he started screaming like the kid was being murdered! I picked him up and he was seriously inconsolable for about 15 mins. He threw his wee arms around me and then he'd glare at me like..."how could you have left me". It was sad and I started welling up as I tried to comfort him.
Now I can not go anywhere in the house without him attached to my leg. I think he's terrified I'm going to take off again.
We did manage to get away for a few hours and watch The Dark Knight. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Ryan is quite anxious to see it again.
After a few short days off after the Bar, Ryan had to get back to work. He's got his own office at his firm (for the moment) and has already had a few stressful deadlines. Just a taster of what is to come I suspect. He really likes the people he works with though and they had a BBQ/softball game last thursday that Jack and I attended with him in Portland. It was nice to meet some of the other wives and have them reassure me that it is a really good firm.
We are still at the in-laws for now, but anticipate moving out middle of next month. I have found some promising apartments in Tigard and Wilsonville, so we'll see where we end up. It'll just be nice to get into our own place finally, meet some new families, and, of course, the commute for Ryan to his work will be heaps shorter too.

The Dreaded Bar Exam
It's only been 2 hours and I am missing Jack already. Ryan and I are at a Holiday Inn for the next couple of nights as Ryan is taking the Bar tomorrow and Wednesday at a conference center here in Portland. Jack is back at the house with Ryan's parents and sisters. Poor Ryan, I am so glad I don't have to take this exam. He has been studying so hard for the last month and I just hope all his hard work pays off for him. He really deserves to do well.
In the mean time I will have to figure out what in the world to do with myself for the next 2 days without my kid! It feels so strange not having him here. I might actually get to sleep through the night...what a wonderful thought.

Sick Boys
Monday the 7th was Ryan's 28th birthday. It should have been a nice day for him, but instead he wasn't feeling quite himself and had to go to a Bar class from 9am-5pm. So, he continues to feel unwell for the next few days; progressively getting sicker. He seemed to have the flu. Well, in the wee hours of the morning on thursday he gets up to go get some medicine. About 5 minutes later I hear shouting from Ryan's mum. I come running out into the living room to find Ryan flat on his back passed out. He was completely white and looked just awful. He came around fairly quickly thankfully. Liz called 911 for some assistance as to what we should do and they sent an ambulance. Ryan was insistant that he didn't need one so it was cancelled, but we took him to the emergency room to be checked out. We were told he was dehydrated, had an infection in his eyes, and had a bad case of the flu as well. It was quite a terrifying experience seeing poor Ryan lying there so helpless and ill. He is back to his old self again, but my poor wee Jack is now suffering from a slight fever and a very bad cold. He slept for most of the day today and still wanted to go to bed at his normal time. Hopefully he'll be feeling better soon. Although it is so hard to see him sick, I did love just snuggling with him while he was awake today. He has always got something better to do than hug his mummy these days.
